Disney has updated their My Disney Experience mobile app, and it now includes many new features that are long overdue.

Now users can renew their Annual Passes directly through the app, which is incredibly helpful.

However, the best updates come in the form of being able to finally track dining credit usage if you have the Disney Dining Plan as part of your vacation package, and to be able to check on your current hotel balance due at checkout.

If you’re like us, you often use the Disney Dining Plan and it’s incredibly frustrating to have to constantly try and remember what you’ve used or ask a Cast Member for a printout of your remaining credits. On our last trip, we were accidentally charged twice for a meal and were told on the last day we were out of credits. Had the app had this feature then it would’ve saved us a trip to concierge to straighten the mess out.

In addition to all of that you can also now track your spending through the application as it now has access to your hotel portfolio (billing).  This way you can track all of the charges you are making to your resort account.

Ghostly performers for Mickey's

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – With trick-or-treating throughout the park, bewitching  fireworks under a pumpkin moon, costumed characters on parade, a wickedly joyous Villain Spelltacular and much more, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party brings frightful fun to Magic Kingdom Park for a record 32 select nights, Aug. 25 – Nov. 1.

Mummies, daddies and their kids are in for a devilishly delightful time in this after-hours ticketed event guaranteed to make for boo-tiful memories. Not-So-Scary means just that – the party is family-friendly as only Disney can do and appropriate for children of all ages.

For ghouls and goblins eager to get the party started, Aug. 25 marks the earliest-ever launch date for the popular event.

Neighborhood trick-or-treating was never like this! Halloween handouts of sweets, treats, snacks and more happen throughout the park. Meantime, most of Magic Kingdom’s iconic attractions are available for all to enjoy.

Get your Halloween on! Dress-up is encouraged for ages 13 and under. Theme park rules for costume look and guest safety can be found at DisneyWorld.com/Halloween.

Among the eerily entertaining events:

  • Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. Chills, thrills and villains join in a wickedly fun celebration hosted by the Sanderson Sisters, a trio of witch sisters from Disney’s live action film Hocus Pocus. The mischievous sisters are joined by dancers, more Disney Villains and other-worldly visual effects. It’s a Halloween party not to be missed, and it takes place at Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage.
  • Happy HalloWishes. This fireworks spectacle high above the Cinderella Castle lights the night. Guests are encouraged to sing along with some of the most infamous Disney Villains, including Cruella de Vil, Jafar and Oogie Boogie. Creepy colors crawl over the castle, a spell is cast and it’s every guest for themselves.
  • Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade. Led by the Headless Horseman, it’s masquerade mania as favorite Disney characters dress up for the occasion and ghostly floats bring the frights and sounds of the season to Main Street, U.S.A. and other Magic Kingdom viewing locations.
  • Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet. Deadpan humor and other antics from this Dapper Dans-style “band” scare up the fun in Frontierland.

Admission for select nights to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts at $74 per person ages 10+, $69 ages 3-9. Hours 7 pm-midnight.

Guests bobbing for even more Halloween fun can sign up for the special-ticketed Happy HalloWishes Dessert Party. Ticketed Not-So-Scary guests can also pair the event with a table-service dining experience. Even Disney PhotoPass Service gets in the spirit. Who knows what surprise guest will magically materialize in your photos?

For reservations and other information, including rules governing costuming, guests can source all the delightfully spooky details of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Disneyworld.com/Halloween or call 407/WDISNEY.

A Closer Look: New Pool Deck at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

A few weeks ago, we shared details about the new guest rooms at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort. The resort is currently undergoing an exciting hotel-wide renovation—the most extensive refurbishment since the hotel’s 2001 opening. Guests have already been enjoying some of the updates—with many new guest rooms already available and the redesigned pool area now open for summer fun! Let’s take a look at some of the details found at our refreshed pool deck.

Each pool area was designed with a variety of natural stones and brick to not only create a warm and welcoming environment, but also define three distinct pool settings. In keeping with the Arts and Crafts style of the hotel, the stone work was hand-laid by master stone masons.

The Redwood Pool, with its irregular shape, features earthy, organic-feeling materials, including rustic brown flagstone and multicolored brick bands and slide accents. Situated just behind the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Disney California Adventure park, the 90-foot-long waterslide curves around a giant Redwood tree stump!

Golden flagstone is used throughout the Fountain Pool. The new urn-shaped fountain serves as the pool area’s centerpiece. Our original turtle fountain can now been seen nestled in the garden as a fun addition to the Craftsman-inspired landscape.

The quiet Mariposa Pool features serene bluestone laid in an ashlar (or rectangular) pattern creating a sleek look. For guests who wish to stretch out and relax, private cabanas line the edge and are available for half-day or full-day rentals.

Which pool would you like to enjoy?

About Me

Hi! I’m Milford.

If you love Travel, all things Disney, Food and Home Brewed and Craft Beers and Technology you are in the right place!

You can connect with me on all of the below Social Methods:

What You’ll Find On My Site

Here on “Milford on the Move!” you will find articles about my “Disney Travel”. I will also share different eateries and breweries here in Indiana and wherever I may be traveling.  I live in the Indianapolis Indiana region and we get out a lot to experience the "Hoosier Experience"!

So I mentioned Disney, my wife (Shawn) and I are huge Disney Nerd's and we travel to Disney a few times a year to experience everything that is new there.  On the plate this year is a 7 day Wedding trip to Disney's Aulani Resort, a few days stay at Disneyland and a trip to Walt Disney World for Epcots 35th Anniversary in September along with the MouseRants "Rum Springer" Podcast weekend event.

What You Won’t Find On My Site

I'm here to talk about my experiences with the different places that we travel, these are the experiences as my wife and I have them.  They are in no way an indication of the experience that you will have with the same venue or trip.  I am willing to hear from anyone about your experience but please understand that what I write about here is my own view of these exeperiences.

Are you still interested?

This is probably as good as place of any to tell you a little bit about myself and why I blog.

I am born and raised here in Good old Indiana, I have lived in several places in Indiana but never outside of the state, I have visited 50 states (now that I just got back from Hawaii) of this great country.  I have two degrees in IT (Bachelors and Masters) from UOP and AUI respectively.  I do have a full time job working for FCA Group (Formerly Chrysler Group) and I work in the Information Technology departments there in the Kokomo Indiana / Tipton Indiana Area.

So some ask why I started this blog.  Well I really like to talk and really like to write,  so I figured I would write about our travel experiences and other things of importance.  With the hope that I can turn this into a job for when I retire and maybe get a few things for free (Trips, Dinners, Endorsements, etc).  For full disclosure I am also a home based Travel Agent (with Key to the World Travel) and specialize in booking Disney World, Disney Land, Disney Cruise Line and Universal trips for my clients.

I am also the Producer for a Disney Podcast called The Dis Explorers ( Click here for that site! )

So want to have some fun? Stick around and see where our travels take us.

Hello, my name is Milford Hutsell.  I am a Travel Agent with Key to the World Travel®, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner and I also run and host this blog.

I took my first trip in November of 1998 after my wife convinced me along with my two daughters that we should take a trip to Walt Disney World.  I had no idea what to expect, I knew it was going to be awesome but had no idea how awesome it would be.  Our first stop on our first day was to go to the newest park in Walt Disney World ®, Animal Kingdom ®.  Walking in for the first time and seeing that giant Tree of Life in the center of the park was amazing.  Our trip ended with a day in the Magic Kingdom ®, seeing the Castle for the first time and hearing the music playing and the smell of popcorn and the scents from the Bakery on Main street are all the amazing things I remember from that vacation.

So after that trip I was hooked, we soon purchased an interest in Disney Vacation Club and have been making trips to the world at least annually ever since.  I can't get enough of Disney in my life, so in 2008 we started taking cruises on the Disney Cruise Line ®.  I thought that Walt Disney World ® was awesome, wait till you can take a cruise upon one of these fantastic ships.  I was so relaxed hanging out at the Adult Pool in The Cove.  Seeing the amazing shows in the Walt Disney Theatre ®.  We were again hooked and we have now been on several Disney Cruises.

A family vacation is all about creating lifelong memories, and I believe every family deserves an amazing vacation experience, created especially for them. As a Disney College of Knowledge graduate, I will help you create the perfect magical experience for you and your family with the same special care and attention I have given my own. There are so many options available – accommodations, dining, tours, activities – and I will work with you to tailor each to fit your family’s needs and desires. I can handle every detail, from dining reservations to day-to-day itineraries, and take the stress out of planning so you can just enjoy your vacation!  So whether your idea of a dream Disney vacation is a theme park, cruise, a beach in Hawaii or even an adventure somewhere else in the world, I can help make any of your vacation fantasies come true.

My number one goal is to help you to create a one of a kind trip, full of magical memories and tons of family fun. So, contact me today and let’s start planning your dream vacation.  I especially enjoy helping large groups plan things like cruises.  I have experience with booking large groups of people.  The largest group cruise I have booked was 15 state rooms (50 people).

Travel is my passion.  I have traveled extensively in the United States, Bahamas and the Caribbean; I chose to specialize in Disney travel because I believe Disney provides a level of service and entertainment that no other destination can provide.  And while Disney is my specialty, Key to the World Travel®, an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, is a full-service travel agency, so whether your happy place is a beach in the Caribbean, a city in Europe, a cruise to Hawaii, or a ski-lodge is South America, I can help make any of your vacation fantasies come true.  And remember, my planning services are included in the cost of your vacation – no hidden or extra fees!!

My goal is to help you to create a one of a kind trip, full of magical memories and tons of family fun.  So, today and let’s start planning your dream vacation!
