This past weekend, dreams came true as runners crossed the finish line at Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Weekend. The race weekend included the runDisney Kids Races, Disneyland Paris 5K, Disneyland Paris 10K and Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon. Here is a look at some of our favorite moments!
The weekend kicked off under the Parisian night sky as runners took to the streets of Walt Disney Studios Park during the Disneyland Paris 5K. Following the 5K, the park opened its doors for a special runDisney event, which included exclusive access to main attractions, Disney characters, commemorative photo opportunities and a DJ party.
New to the race weekend this year, was the Disneyland Paris 10K. The 6.2-mile course ran through Disneyland Paris Resort and was filled with surprises and plenty of Disney entertainment. Runners also showed up in incredible outfits inspired by Disney characters – check out some of our favorites!
With the addition of the Disneyland Paris 10K, the bravest runners conquered the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo Challenge, combining the 10K and half marathon races.
On Sunday, runners from across the globe raced through the enchanting lands of Disneyland Paris Resort and the picturesque French countryside during the Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon – talk about running straight through a fairytale.
Félicitations, runners! Be sure to share your race photos with us using #DisneylandParisHalf and #runDisneyFrance. To learn more about runDisney events, please visit rundisney.com and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram....

Earlier this month, the Disney Parks Blog team kicked off the return of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom Park by hosting a meet-up for 200 of our readers. This year, our team really wanted to up our costume game, so we enlisted the expertise of the team over at Special Events Costuming & Cosmetology.
Just a few hours before our event was to start, a team of six cosmetologists transformed us into residents of the Haunted Mansion, with looks ranging from the mansion’s butler, maid, organist, groundskeeper and more. Take a behind-the-scenes look at our ghostly transformations in the video below.

Who knows their way around a dessert better than Carlo’s Bakery head and celebrated pastry Chef Buddy Valastro?
No one – that’s who!
And lucky for us, Buddy returns to this year’s Epcot International Food and Wine Festival – with a sumptuous demo and discussion that is sure to be a taste- and crowd-pleaser.
Anyone who knows – or knows of – Buddy knows that family plays an integral part in everything he does. Carlo’s is a legendary family business and, as seen in its TV show, shines the spotlight on the warmth, heart – and, of course, sometimes craziness – of three generations of family working together.
We caught up with Chef Buddy at Carlo’s in Jersey City to get a sneak peek into his festival presentation and ask him about what he and his family love to do – and eat – while at Walt Disney World.
Chef Buddy will be appearing at the Festival as part of the “What’s Cookin’ With” series of celebrity chef demos and discussions. He will be at Epcot Sunday, Nov. 12.
To book a seat at Buddy’s appearance at the Festival or any of the other Special Dining Events, check out at EpcotFoodFestival.com, or call 407-939-3378.

Last week, Karen McClintock gave you a first look at this year’s 17th annual Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house at Disneyland park. Now I’d like to show you how the creative teams at the Disneyland Resort Central Bakery came together with the talented techs in Entertainment Production to build the Oogie Boogie and bug-filled house. We installed two time-lapse cameras in the Grand Ballroom the Friday before it was finished and as you can see, it was a true team effort!
This year, Epcot will mark its 35th Anniversary on October 1, 2017. Since opening in 1982, the park has invited visitors to experience the excitement of the future and discover the heritage and traditions of cultures worldwide. For guests who will be celebrating at Epcot on October 1, we have created a special “I Was There” merchandise collection. I spoke with Cathy Dawson, merchandise product developer for events, about the commemorative items that include a beloved character from the park’s beginnings.
“For this collection, we honored Epcot’s rich heritage by including Figment from the Journey Into Imagination attraction on all of the ‘I Was There’ items,” explained Cathy. “He’s been at the park since the early days of Epcot and has delighted many guests throughout the years. This retro-inspired collection complements the other 35th anniversary merchandise guests will find all year long.”
Seven items will be released on October 1 including apparel for adults and kids, a hat, an ornament, and a limited release pin. Annual Passholders will find a t-shirt created just for them (please present a valid Annual Pass at time of purchase).
These items will be released at a “pop-up” shop located just past the Art of Disney location in Future World. This will be the only place that will carry these items on October 1. The “I Was There” collection will not be available via Shop Disney Parks app or the online store.
Guests looking for the previously discussed Epcot 35th Anniversary logo collection will find products in select Epcot merchandise locations, such as Mouse Gear, beginning in late September. Select items will also be carried online and via Shop Disney Parks app....
Fans of the Food Network’s Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian won’t want to miss his appearance at this year’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival “What’s Cookin’ With…” session on Oct. 8 in the Festival Center.
Start your day with breakfast with Zakarian – he’ll be onstage creating fabulous shrimp and grits and offering tips, tricks and insights. Then you’ll have the opportunity to ask him question.
We caught up with Zakarian at The Food Studio in New York City, where he shared his favorite things to do at Walt Disney World Resort.

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort kicked off last week, and the spooky season also extends into the Downtown Disney District. Guests have been welcomed into Downtown Disney with festive Halloween décor, seasonal entertainment and for the first time, special fall-themed landscaping.
There are a few tricks (and plenty of treats) to discover!
Harvest Horticulture: More than 1,600 real pumpkins are integrated into the area’s landscaping in unique ways—nestled into planters among flowers and raised high above in towers. You’ll spot a mix of tropical fall plants, such as canna lilies and copperleaves, as well as traditional plants, including mums and marigolds. Our horticulture team even worked with farmers to harvest special heirloom pumpkins and squash for the occasion!
Halloween Sweets and Treats: For a limited time, pick up a Sprinkles Halloween BOO box loaded with Vanilla Milk Chocolate, Red Velvet, Black and White and Caramel Apple cupcakes. At Wetzel’s Pretzels, enjoy pumpkin spice bitz with pumpkin caramel dipping sauce!
Thirsty? Order Halloween-inspired cocktails at UVA Bar and Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen. For a healthier treat, Pumpkin-flavored smoothies, like the Pumpkin Smash, can be found at Jamba Juice.
Spook-tacular Entertainment: SCAREolers will frequent Downtown Disney District and entertain guests with their ghoulish songs on Wednesday and Thursday evenings in October (and of course Halloween night). Listen up for favorites such as “Grim Grinning Ghosts” and “I Put A Spell On You.”
Are you visiting during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort?...
I love being a local here in Central Florida, especially during Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month – a program that gives diners the chance to enjoy a spectacular three-course prix fixe dinner for only $35 per person while benefiting Freedom Ride and BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. Every year, I make a point to try at least one new (or new-to-me) restaurant, and over the years, I’ve enjoyed some incredible meals!
This year, guests can indulge at more than 100 Orlando-area restaurants, including three of my favorites at Disney Springs: Morimoto Asia, Paddlefish and STK Orlando. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to treat yourself to a tasty night out, this is it!
Whether you fancy international cuisine, seafood, or steak, you’re sure to find something to please your palate at a price you can’t pass up.
Click the links below to see the featured menu items from each venue:
As a seasoned Magical Dining pro, I’d strongly suggest making reservations in advance. (It’s easy to book using the links above or via 407-WDW-DINE.) With just over a week to take part at STK Orlando and roughly two weeks to experience Magical Dining at Paddlefish and Morimoto Asia, now is the time to make your plans. Get the girls together, design your dream date night or make it a family affair … no matter who you dine with, I have no doubt it will be a delicious evening you won’t soon forget!
Magical Dining Month menus feature three courses for $35 per person, including appetizer, entrée and dessert and cannot be combined with other offers, packages or discounts. One dollar from each meal supports Freedom Ride and BASE Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation. STK Orlando is offering their Magical Dining Menu through October 1, 2017 while Paddlefish and Morimoto Asia have extended through October 12, 2017....
