Recently a family sent a request to Marvel Entertainment to use an image of Spider-Man on their 4-year-old son’s grave but was denied the request.

The 4-year-old boy from England passed away last December from leukodstrophy, a rare genetic disease. His parents wanted to use the image of Spider-Man on his headstone as Ollie was a HUGE Spider-Man fan!

The family heard from the Walt Disney Company and the request refusal was because they didn’t want their characters to be associated with death.

Here is their official response:

“We extend our sincere condolences. If we played a small part in Ollie’s happiness we are honored.

“Generations of fans have responded to our characters with the same wonder and delight that Ollie did. In fact, many believe the characters to be real.

“We have striven to preserve the same innocence and magic around our characters that brought Ollie such joy.

“For that reason, we follow a policy that began with Walt Disney himself that does not permit the use of characters on headstones, cemetery or other memorial markers or funeral urns.”

His parents couldn’t believe that their request was denied and said: “I really wasn’t expecting this. I felt sure they would allow it.”

The family has received hundreds of messages daily and even started an online petition. They have even have gone as far as to tweet to the actors who starred in the Spider-Man movies.

Sony’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home” swung into theaters this July 4th and soared to $25.2 million— the second-highest Independence Day take of all time. Tom Holland and the cast have been on a worldwide media blitz for the film creating a huge buzz. Fans are excited to see how Peter Parker goes on in a world without Tony Stark. Far From Home is teased to take place after Spidey comes back home from the huge battle in Avengers: Endgame.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” has taken in more than $91 million in its first three days and could be on track to take in at least $60 million more during the Friday-Sunday weekend. That should leave the Marvel tentpole well above studio forecasts, which have remained at $125 million for the first six days.

Sony reported Friday that “Spider-Man: Far From Home” has grossed $310 million globally in its first seven days of release with $218.5 million from international markets. The tentpole opened last weekend in China with an impressive $97 million.

Summer time is here, and it looks like our favorite color trend, Rose Gold has arrived as a fun new Spirit Jersey. The Tie-Dye Rose Gold Spirit Jersey mixes the fan fave rose gold with the summer tradition of tie-dye! This retro inspired jersey is the latest edition to the Disney Parks Briar Rose Gold collection.

This style was originally released in just children’s sizes, and I was honestly a little bit jealous of the kiddos, but it’s finally here for adults! As usual the collection features a Disneyland, and Walt Disney World style. The tie-dye is a swirl of soft pink, with white, for a beautiful pastel. The logos for the iconic Disneyland and Walt Disney World resort logos are a beautiful rose glitter puffed ink, which shimmer gorgeously on the pastel tie-dye. The Briar Rose Gold Minnie Ears compliment this new Spirit Jersey fabulously too!

These Spirit Jerseys are available now at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and online at shopDisney.com. They come in size XS-XXL and retail for $64.99. Are you a fan of the summer twist the Tie-Dye Rose Gold Spirit Jersey has, or do you prefer the grey Briar Rose Gold Jersey released this past spring?

Rey’s Parents To Be Revealed In Episode 9

The long awaited Star Wars Episode 9 film, The Rise of Skywalker will premier in December of this year. Fans will be excited to know that one of the most anticipated questions about the trilogy will be answered.

We learned not too long ago that Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, will not be returning to the Star Wars franchise. With the conclusion of the Skywalker saga, one question has still been left unanswered. Who are Rey’s parents? While there have been tons of fan theories and speculations, the cast and creators of the film have been very tight-lipped about it.

The ambiguity is leading Star Wars fans to more wild speculation. Fans want to know if Rey’s parents are truly “filthy junk traders” as Kylo Ren says in The Last Jedi, or is there more to her story? Also, with Comic Con and the D23 Expo around the corner, there could be more information as to what’s to come in Star Wars Episode 9, The Rise of Skywalker.

For now, we will just have to wait until December 20th when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters!

What’s your fan theory about Rey’s parents? Who do you think they are? Let us know in the comments!

Redd’s Revenge brings a New Dole Whip

redd's revenge strawberry dole whip

Attention!  There is a new Dole Whip in town.  Redd‘s Revenge is a new Dole Whip float featuring strawberry Dole Whip submerged in strawberry Fanta with a chocolate pirate hat on top.  It is less sweet than the pineapple and very refreshing.  The new flavor is much appreciated for visitors wanting cold treats.

Strawberry Dole Whip is also available by the cup but only at Sunshine Tree Terrace.  This is a little walk from the Pirates of the Carribean so if you’d like to take a picture with it you will have to speed walk in this Florida summer heat.  The float is $6.99 and is a Disney Dining snack credit.  Overall we are happy for another flavor of Dole Whip around the parks!
