With the start of the high school football season upon us, 22 varsity football teams, including some nationally-recognized squads, are currently competing in the KSA Events Kick-Off Classic at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort.

The event brings together some of the top programs from across the country, giving them the opportunity to face teams from outside of their home areas. This week, teams from Florida, Colorado, Ohio, California, Pennsylvania and Illinois are squaring off at the complex.

One notable tilt today (Aug. 24) at 6 p.m. on Field 17 will feature Central Florida’s Merritt Island taking on heralded Avon High School (Ohio). Considered one of the top out-of-state matchups of the week by USAToday.com, the game pits the Merritt Island Mustangs, who finished 7-4 last season, against the Avon Eagles, who went undefeated (9-0) in their regular season.

Another game to watch this week is Oxbridge Academy (Florida) vs. Archbishop Wood (Pennsylvania) on Friday (Aug. 25) at 8 p.m. on Field 17. The Archbishop Wood Vikings are ranked No. 1 in Pennsylvania by Maxpreps.com.
